Overview

One manuscript, three finished products, zero handoffs.

Brand Identity Logo Design Editorial Design System Ebook Design Publishing Automation EPUB / PDF Production Web Design Web Development Marketing Funnel Beehiiv Newsletter Templates Content Strategy Business Strategy

This wasn't just a publishing project — it was a full zero-to-one build: brand identity, logo, editorial design system, a marketing funnel, a beehiiv blog and newsletter, content templates, and the consulting and strategy to take a coaching idea and turn it into a fully executed, scalable digital business — turnkey and handed off.

Bill McGlone had a finished manuscript — Reboot Camp: 10 Life-Altering Steps to Take You From Surviving to Thriving After 40 — and a coaching brand for men rebuilding their lives after 40. He had neither a book design nor a way to publish one. No brand system, no cover, no PDF, no EPUB, no site.

The brief was to build the whole stack from a Word doc: a brand identity built around Bill's Blueprint palette, a 10-chapter editorial design system that reads like a coach talking to you rather than a corporate handout, and — instead of the usual two-tool workflow of designing a PDF and then separately rebuilding an EPUB — a single HTML source with a one-command build that outputs both at once.

The result lives at rebootcampcoaching.com: a marketing site carrying Bill's founder story and a newsletter funnel, a scrollable web version of the book, and a downloadable print-ready PDF — plus a Kindle/Apple Books-ready EPUB, all generated from the same file that gets edited exactly once.

01
The Client

Bill McGlone runs Reboot Camp Coaching, helping men over 40 who've hit a wall — divorce, job loss, burnout — rebuild momentum and create their second act. Reboot Camp is his first book.

02
The Ask

Turn a 10-step manuscript into a real, sellable book — without hiring a separate book designer, formatter, and web developer — plus a site to tell Bill's story and capture leads for the coaching program behind it.

03
The Outcome

A branded ebook shipping as both PDF and EPUB from one source file, a live marketing and web-reader site on Netlify, and a newsletter funnel — all rebuildable with a single python generate.py whenever the content changes.

Process + Tools

A book, a brand, and a build script — from one file.

Bill came in with a finished manuscript and a name — Reboot Camp — but no visual language. The first job was giving the 10 steps a design system that felt like a coach, not a corporate handout: a dark "chapter-opener" per step with an oversized cyan-outlined number, pull quotes, "The Action" callout boxes, and stat blocks, all defined once in a shared stylesheet so every chapter inherits it automatically.

Rather than design a PDF and separately rebuild an EPUB — the usual two-tool, two-headache workflow — the entire book lives in one HTML file. A Python pipeline reads that file and renders it two ways: WeasyPrint for a print-ready PDF, ebooklib for a Kindle/Apple Books-ready EPUB. Editing one paragraph updates every format the next time generate.py runs.

That same source also powers a scrollable web reader and a separate landing page — Bill's founder story, a newsletter capture, and a "Book a Call" CTA — deployed together on Netlify at rebootcampcoaching.com. A dedicated mobile pass and several editorial rounds (DOCX exports for Bill to mark up in plain track-changes) shipped after launch.

01
Brand + Editorial System

Defined the Blueprint palette and a 10-step component library: chapter openers, pull quotes, callouts, stat blocks, and "The Action" boxes — built once, reused across every chapter.

02
Single-Source Build

Built a Python pipeline — WeasyPrint for PDF, ebooklib for EPUB — so one HTML file generates both a print-ready book and a store-ready ebook with a single command.

03
Web Reader + Landing Page

Adapted the same design system into a scrollable web version of the book, plus a standalone marketing page with founder narrative and lead capture.

04
Editorial Passes

Multiple copy rounds via DOCX export for Bill's review, refining chapter text, step titles, and calls to action alongside the visual design.

05
Launch + Mobile Pass

Deployed to Netlify at rebootcampcoaching.com; dedicated mobile responsiveness fixes and beehiiv newsletter integration for post-launch audience building.

That's one. We've got more.

BACK TO THE WORK.
